These days I am Meditating on Speech and Speaking to people. Where we see tongue plays an important role,
We have to be very careful about the sins of our tongue, Let us see what bible says about this.
Different Sins of the Tongue:
- The Lying Tongue
- The Flattering Tongue
- The Proud Tongue
- The Overused Tongue
- The Swift Tongue
- The Backbiting Tongue
- The Talebearing Tongue
- The Cursing Tongue
- The Piercing Tongue
- The Silent Tongue
Many people lie a lot based on the situation and necessary escapism and some time for beneficial habits. But as true Christian and men of god, whats is that we need look at to keep away from sin!
Proverbs 25:18 says, “A man that beareth false witness against his neighbor is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.” So a lying tongue is a misuse of a deadly weapon. It can be used to harm others near at hand (a maul), a few feet away (a sword)
God said that he hates a lying tongue (Pro. 6:17).
Be careful about you talks when you deliver words to someone!
Flattery is also a sin of the tongue. The Bible speaks of flattery as a characteristic of the wicked, not the righteous:
“For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulcher; they flatter with their tongue.” (Psalm 5:9)
Job 17:5 He that speak flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail
Psalms 12:3 : The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things
Proverbs 26:28 Lying tongues hate those that are afflicted by it;
And a flattering mouth worketh ruin.
The most of the Christians those with proud tongues because a proud tongue usually come with two closed ears! A proud-tongued Christian will talk much of his knowledge and service, but very little about the Lord. Always they and themselves
Dear Friend, God hates a proud tongue. Allow the Spirit to use your tongue the way god wants to use it
Most of the people sin by simply overusing their tongue.
Ecclesiastes 5:3 says that “a fool’s voice is known by multitude of words.”
Ecclesiastes 5:2 says, “Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter anything before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.”
Friends never be quick and hasty, be careful while talking every words are judged
Proverbs 18:13: “He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.” How many times have you had to “eat” your words because you spoke too swiftly?
James 1:19 warns us to be swift to HEAR and SLOW to speak.
Need to Slow and neat while Speaking. If you don’t you will fall into sin. And commit sin
Backbiting Tongue :
Backbiting is one common thing we are finding everywhere in today’s world we live in. People speak against other behind,
A backbiter would much rather talk ABOUT the person than talk TO the person he talking about or referring about..
Romans 16:17-18 :I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive.
Matthew 12:37 :For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
These are people who make stories, Talebearing (carrying and telling tales) spreads all sorts of hurtful information around, about others.
Proverbs 18:8 says, “The words of a gossip are like choice morsels;
they go down to the inmost part
Leviticus 19:16 says, “Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people. . .”
James 3:8 -but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison..
Most of the People, keep cursing other, while they talk ,bible says
Ephesians 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
Romans 3:13-14 says, “Their throats are open graves and The poison of vipers is on their lips
Proverbs 12:18 says, “he words of the reckless pierce like swords,
but the tongue of the wise brings healing”
Wow! Look what bible says, piercing tongue is like sword. Many time even we commit this kind of sins, suddenly. When we are anger, be careful
(Col. 4:6), Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone
Most churches have a few people who use their tongue like a sword to pierce their brethren in Christ.
We have been commanded to speak up and witness for the Lord Jesus Christ.
In Acts 1:8, Jesus said, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth”
Let not be a salient, we have fulfill what god had chosen us to do
Mark 8:38: If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels
Let us pray that we should not fall into sins, of the tongue and shall live as witness for our lord, Jesus who died for you and me.
